Relax, it's your right as a Human Being...

Kelleys Island, Ohio located on Lake Erie, just 20 min private boat ride from Pelee Island in Canada and Put-in-Bay on South Bass. You can take a ferry from downtown Sandusky near Cedar Point Amusement Park (some people include it on their visit to the area) or Marblehead, near Port Clinton. It is nothing like Put-in-Bay, more families and the atmosphere is friendly and quaint. There are maybe 200 year round residents, the rest in the summer season are tourist or people that have summer cottages.

Mostly regional, but it is close enough to New York and Chicago, that there are more and more people coming from those areas. If you are looking for a "one tank trip" or a close place to go during the week or on the weekend, it is nicknamed the "emerald isle" because of it's lush greenery. The is and appx 4 x 4 mi but the downtown area is rather small and quaint. You can rent a bike or golf cart to ride on the streets or bring your car over on the Marblehead ferry.

It is definitely Ohio's best kept secret and in general when I talk to people, they never thought there was an island in Ohio. People seem to forget that the Great Lakes are there! Wow, are they missing out. It is a bit like stepping back in time, but with some moderness to it. There is an old-fashioned Mini-Golf course at Caddy Shack Square (downtown) where the kids say they like better than the new ones. Families seem to reconnect, kids run around like years gone by. People start talking to other people, it is truly a special place. You must venture over some day soon and check it out. Spread the word. Kelleys Island, Ohio on Lake Erie.
